After Santa Barbara Police Chief Carlton "Lassie" Lassiter is ambushed on the job and left for dead, he begins to see impossible happenings around his recovery clinic. What they uncover will change the course of their lives forever. Shawn and Gus arrive at the Viking's Den, where bartender Alina tells them that Tileback had dark secrets which were being exposed.
After suffering a stroke on the operating table, Lassiter starts seeing unusual and possibly supernatural occurrences in his recovery clinic. Concerned that his condition makes him an unreliable witness to the truth of what he saw, he reaches out to Shawn and Gus. The pair travel to Santa Barbara from San Francisco to assist Lassiter in his efforts to find his shooter and explain what he has been seeing. However, they are told that hallucinations are side-effects of the medicine.

Lassiter throws the pills away saying he doesn't know how she could be involved in what has been going on. Shawn leaves the room and walks down the hallway where he hallucinates a baby sized Mary Lightly, a previous character killed in an earlier episode of the show. Shawn and baby Mary sing a song while Gus comes out of the room also seeing the hallucination of baby Mary. Shawn and Gus then see Wilkerson walking by and start chasing him.
Everyone is fast asleep, but Shawn suddenly wakes up to the sounds of a bumbling baby. He walks into the hallway and discovers Mary as a baby in a jumper chair. Mary expresses the joy of being a baby to Shawn, who sings him asleep with a lullaby. Gus has followed Shawn into the hallway and can also see Mary, who disappears when Wilkerson comes sneaking past and distracts the duo. Alarmed, the duo chase him down and confront him about his fake coma.

Woody pretends to be an eccentric doctor named Catalon for them. During her commissioner interview, Vick has an epiphany and leaves. Woody, Shawn and Gus find bloodied clothes hidden among the medical supplies and them alongside Shawn's father Henry, attempt to convince Dolores - a nurse with a crush on Gus - that Herschel is guilty. In the ice bar, Shawn mentions that he has only been to Norway once, with his brother in law, and Gus says that they don't talk about it.
A young Lassiter is sharing a bonding experience with his father while hiking, but when he looks away his father suddenly disappears. Lassiter starts yelling for him in panic, but then the image distorts and we learn that adult Lassiter is having a flashback on the brink of death after suffering several gunshot wounds. He is approached by a silhouetted man and begs for his life. After hallucinating his father beside him, he is shot once more and passes out.

One of the items on Lassiter's list of errands says "tap class?" in reference to Lassiter's tap dance lessons in S5E2 "Feet Don't Kill Me Now". Another item says "eliminate hippies", which is a call-back to his outspoken resentment towards hippies in S6E8 "The Tao of Gus". Another says "S.E.I.Z.E.", a reference to Shawn's nonsensical acronym in S8E2 "S.E.I.Z.E. the Day".
This drama written and directed by Megan Park sees the devastating effects of a school shooting on a group of high school students. Gus and Shawn reunite in Santa Barbara to lend their former chief a hand. However, their homecoming is far from ideal as they grapple with a paranormal case. However, when they ask Woody for the pills, he indicates he physically swallowed the pills thinking that was what they meant by "take" the pills. As Shawn is picking it up, under the dumpster, he finds a bag full of bloody bandages and stitches that smells like peroxide. This discovery makes them realize that Lassiter seeing a bloody and wounded figure entering the stables was real.
When they arrive at the office, they discover that it has been turned into a cat café called Le Litière. They tell owner Maisie that they need to make some holes to retrieve their detective tools, but she says they will have to take that up with the landlord in the other room. This turns out to be Henry, who kept paying the office's rent when Shawn moved without breaking his lease in order to sublet it to ill-conceived start-ups like Le Litière. A new series of “The More You Know” PSAs will tackle systemic racism and speak up for social justice, equality and equity, NBCUniversal says. Participating will be a roster of NBC talent, including Dulé Hill, James Roday Rodriguez, Kelly Clarkson and Melissa Fumero, among others. The event highlighted how programmers are pivoting toward building data partnerships to form better, direct relationships with consumers, who are increasingly turning toward customizable digital services.
Selene now joins the two, and Juliet introduces her as Gus's girlfriend. Buzz misunderstands the situation and thinks Selene must be the nurse he has heard about. Selene is enraged and decides to go to the Herschel House on her own. As she walks towards Juliet's car, Shawn and Gus have to make a quick escape across the front seats to remain unseen, and in the process Shawn finds a positive pregnancy test he concludes to be Juliet's.
Lassiter was shot and Tileback fled but was eventually found and killed as well. Shawn and Gus now know that Dr. Herschel must be working together with an outside man who shakes down the home's patients using the information extracted by Herschel. Morrisey, Lassiter's dog, returns from a walk with a human hand which Shawn and Gus send to Woody, a coroner. Juliet discovers the missing bullet, and sends it to be analysed against orders. Juliet and Shawn attempt to hide their own involvement from each other. Woody's results reveal the hand belongs to a CEO who committed suicide and Shawn and Gus return to Santa Barbara.
He also warns Shawn and Gus that it is only dangerous if they continue to fuel Lassiter's fantasies by taking them seriously. Shawn and Gus return to Lassiter's room to tell him they cannot help him, and that the things he is seeing are not real and probably caused by his medications. Then Morrissey, who jumped out the window after Shawn and Gus previously left the room with Dolores, walks through the door with a severed human hand in his mouth. The hand convinces Shawn and Gus to look into Lassiter's claims. Dolores is putting Lassiter to bed and reveals that the pills he normally takes have been replaced with some that will kill him instead.
Shawn and Gus are walking on the grounds of the Herschel House with Morrissey. Shawn has the dog smell something from the hand to see if the dog will lead them to the rest of the body. As Juliet says goodbye to Lassiter, she notices Morrissey's food bowl in his room alerting her to Shawn's presence in Santa Barbara. She calls Shawn and he admits he came down to help Lassiter, but he will be ready for a special dinner both of them have planned later.
During dinner, Juliet and Shawn both try to convince the other to not work on Lassiter's case, and Shawn takes Lassiter's list of errands from Juliet to do them for her. After dinner, they hear Gus' phone ringing, and Shawn finds a hiding Gus. The movie opens with a teen-aged Lassiter hiking in the woods with his father. Lassiter asks his father if he will be able to grow a beard like his father's when he is older. His father says yes and talks about it being a Lassiter family tradition.
Where to watch
Shawn realizes the note must have had something to do with why Lassiter was at the warehouse when he was shot. Henry leaves to get the note further analyzed to see if any more information can be ascertained while Gus returns with the ice chips and snacks. Juliet returns to the scene of Lassiter's shooting to search for a missing bullet fired from the second gun. While using a laser to track the trajectory of the shots, she startles a homeless woman.
However, when Morrissey suddenly enters the room with a human hand the duo realize that Lassiter's brain might not be as unreliable as Dolores thinks. Tina Fey’s last streaming comedy proved that “females are strong as hell.” Now the prolific TV creator is set to double down on that message with the lead casting for her new Peacock sitcom. Along with the previously announced cast members, original series stars Maggie Lawson, Kristen Nelson, and Corbin Bernsen will reprise their roles from the beloved USA Network series. Psych follows Shawn Spencer, a carefree loafer with incredible powers of observation, tricks the police into believing he is a psychic.
